Aluminum is a relatively active metal. It is very easy to oxidize in the air to produce a dense and solid oxide film (AL2O3). The oxide film formed on the surface of aluminum has a good protective effect on the solid and liquid aluminum.
The corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy varies with the alloying elements. Generally, the corrosion resistance of the AL-Mn and AL-Mg alloys is better, and the corrosion resistance of most of the complex aluminum alloys is not as good as the previous two. The excellent corrosion resistance of aluminum is used in chemical industry as liquid natural gas pipeline and cooling pipe installation, oil refining device and so on.
